The founding doctors, through their experience of establishing and operating five hospitals in different districts of West Bengal, recognized the acute deficit of trained healthcare personnel in rural regions and set about to correct this imbalance.
Skilled para-medical technicians (Allied Health Professional – AHP) are an integral part of the healthcare system at all tiers. India is one of the 57 countries to face a massive shortage of trained AHPs.
These two scenarios together constitute an unparalleled opportunity for both the stakeholder groups –
- Rural poor youth – livelihood creation, girls being significant beneficiaries;
- Healthcare sector – uniform standards, better quality of care, access to human resource
With this rationale, JSV Innovations set out to establish training facilities for AHPs, concentrating on districts and the vast rural hinterland – School for Skills: Allied Health Sciences.
